Te Papa Press has recently published a wonderful new book documenting Mark Adams' decade spanning photographic series detailing Samoan tattoo practise. Tatau: Samoan Tattoo, New Zealand Art, Global Culture includes photographs by Mark Adams, as well as essays by Sean Mallon, Peter Brunt and Nicholas Thomas. There are also interviews with Adams and tattooist Sulu'ape Paulo II who each describe their individual creative practise. The book comes as a result of a successful exhibition which is still touring internationally.
