Roundabout at City Gallery Wellington

If you haven't had a chance to see it already, head along to roundabout at City Gallery Wellington. The extensive exhibition, drawn from the collection of David Teplitzky and Peggy Scott, features a striking work by Page Blackie Gallery artist Lyonel Grant entitled Poutokomanawa.

Liyen Chong awarded The McCahon House Residency


We are excited to announce that Page Blackie Gallery artist Liyen Chong has been awarded a prestigious McCahon House Residency for 2011. The McCahon House Residence is situated in beautiful French Bay, Titirangi, alongside the original McCahon family home. Liyen will begin her residency in February 2011.

Max Gimblett workspace

A new publication on Page Blackie Gallery artist Max Gimblett was launched last month. Workspace contains an intriguing series of photographs by John Savage capturing Gimblett's New York studio space. The photographs and accompanying essay by Jenni Quilter provide an interesting insight into the daily ritual surrounding Gimblett's practice.

Artists @ Work

Page Blackie Gallery artists Heather Straka, Dick Frizzell, Neil Dawson, Paul Dibble and Karl Maughan all feature in Artists @ Work, an exciting new art book launched at the beginning of this month. Profiling 24 New Zealand artists in their studios, the book provides a unique insight into the 'practical aspects of artists embarking on their creative processes'. The publication, complied by art writer Richard Wolfe and photographer Stephen Robinson, cleverly captures the often private domain of the artists studio.
